AF's are too slow and cumbersome to be actively used tbh, the interceptors can either engage if it fits or run away at any time. Which means that AF's are basically uber for lvl3 missions, but not much else.
Some AF's have limited use in fleets as anti-frig ships (harpy comes to mind), but tbh, there is nothing you can do in fleet with AF that you can't do with a cruiser for less skill points and ISK.
Say US Army wants to make a tech2 version of Abrams tank, by adding 50 tons more armor, so it can't move anymore. Everybody would understand that the idea was not very good one. However, CCP wants us to think that it is :P

Average inty speed with skills is what? 3000m/s? So pulse gets roughly 3 seconds more firing time than a blaster give or take. Assuming that with lag the pulse user activates and starts firing the second it's in range.
I would change 3 seconds for a midslot and better dps. Who wouldn't?

An extra mid really is. I haven't heard anyone come up with a compelling argument as to why the Ranis/Crow get an third mid while the Claw/Sader do not.
Claw/Sader are balanced. Ranis/Crow are solo pwnmobiles.
Why not put them on even footing? <gasp> And provide a reason for someone to fly the split weapons ships with a 3rd mid?
